‘MQM advocates equal rights for men and women’
* Hussain says difference between men and women has been practically eliminated in MQM
KARACHI: The chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain has said that the MQM advocates equal rights for men and women and it was endeavouring for the abolition of all the discriminatory and oppressive laws against women in the country.
He said this while talking to the members of the committee of Girls Wing of Karachi Division and girl students of Karachi University sector of its student wing APMSO by telephone, according to a statement of MQM International Secretariat issued here on Sunday.
Members of the Co-ordination Committee of MQM and central committee of APMSO were also present on the occasion.
Hussain said that the difference between men and women has been practically eliminated in the MQM and they have always been considered as equal in the party. He said that the women are given respect and honour in MQM and it is because of this that a large number of women always attend public meetings of MQM without any fear and apprehension on the part of their family members.
MQM chief stated that the women have always braved difficult times with courage and determination along with their brothers in the long history of MQM and its transformation from a student organisation to a vibrant political party.
He praised the women for their unparalleled determination, valour and steadfastness.
Hussain was of the view that it is because of the participation of women that the message of MQM has transcended the limits of Karachi and Hyderabad and gaining wide acceptance in the interior Sindh, the Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
He maintained the time is not far when the oppressed people of the country will unite under the MQM and bring to an end the ‘decadent and oppressive system from the country.’
MQM chief asked the students to concentrate on their studies and use their abilities for making bright the future of their country. He urged them to serve the humanity and respect their parents and teachers.
Hussain also asked them to participate in widely disseminating the message of the party in every part of the country.
