Zardari orders removal of negligent officers

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday said that protection of the life and property of citizens was the top priority of the government and that there would be no compromise in this regard, adding that officers who had shown laxity in controlling the law and order situation in Karachi should be removed immediately.

President Zardari expressed these views while talking to Senior Adviser to President on Interior Rehman Malik at the Presidential Camp Office Bilawal House Karachi on Saturday. He said that the anarchy and violence will not be tolerated at any cost and no relaxation will be given to those involved in the killing of innocent people. Zardari said that action would be taken without any distinction and with full force against the elements involved in target killing and those disturbing peace in Karachi.

He said that the Sindh government and federal government should carry out immediate action under an integrated strategy against target killers, extortionists and anti-state elements. Zardari said that the series of consultations with the coalition partners should be continued for establishing peace in Karachi. He directed the law-enforcing agencies to expedite action against anti-state elements and challans should be presented in the courts as early as possible against the arrested accused. Meanwhile, Rehman Malik also informed the president about legal actions taken against extortionists and miscreants involved in other crimes.
