Writers should forge unity

KARACHI-Feb.17:Former Governor Sindh Lt-Gen (retd) Moinuddin Haider has urged the writers community to promote unity among the various classes of society.

He was speaking as a chief guest at a lunch held at the residence of renowned humourist and column writer Dr. S.M Moin Qureshi. Chiarman Alami Urud Tehreek (New York) Mansoor Javed and US-based Pakistani poet Naeem Akhtar were guests on honour on the occasion.

Earlier, in his welcome address Dr. Moin Qureshi praised the services of foreign guests for promotion of Urdu in America. The lunch was followed by brief poetic sitting which was presided over by senior poet Anwar Shahoor, Masroor Javed, Naseem Akhtar, Fatima Hasan, Rehana Roohi, Rashid Noor, Naseem Nazish, Ghaus Matharvi, Dr. Haroon Siddiqui and Khalilullah Farooqui entertained the audience with their poetry.

Prominent among the guests were Mian Zahid Hussain, Ferozuddin Fareedi, Azhar Hasan Siddiqui, Shahid Yousuf Baghpatee, Agha Noor Muhammad Pathan, Zubair Ahmed Khan, Dr. Mateenul Haq, Artist Qamruddin and an eminent businessman Haji Ahsan from Dubai.
