Workers’ rally protests ban on Geo Super, Aag

LAHORE: The Pakistan Workers Federation held a rally to express solidarity with the Jang Group and Geo TV Network and protest the government ban on Geo Super and Aag TV.

The rally started from the Bakhtiar Labor Hall was participated in by a large number of protestors who were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the government for curbing the mediaís right of freedom of expression.

The protesters chanted slogans in favor of the Geo TV Networks and against the despotic policies of the government. They lauded the efforts of Geo TV Network for upholding the flag of truthful and unbiased journalism, vowing that the federation would always stand by the side of brave journalism and condemn all acts of any regime to slash the voice of the people.

PWF general secretary Khurshid Ahmed said that the media was the mirror of society as it showed the true face of the country and its rulers. Therefore, there was no point in trying to mask the face through cheap tactics, such as tormenting a particular media group by banning its channels and hurting its economy. He said that the act had not only hurt the spirit of journalism but also deprived the masses of the only sports channel in the country.
