‘Women’s participation in polls to be ensured’
SWABI: Complete women participation in the election process would be ensured at all costs in the next general elections and the non-governmental organisations should launch their programmes to educate females about exercise of their right of votes in the democratic process.
This was stated by Dr Yasmeen Jasim MPA who was nominated as Women Wing President of the Awami National Party, district present Haji Rehmanullah and leaders of Malgary Doctoran here on Sunday.
Flanked by other women leaders and workers Dr Yasmeen told media that in past there were reports that the womenfolk in various areas of the district were not allowed to exercise their right of votes in the general elections, especially in the local bodies elections when the election contesting candidates entered in an agreement that the females would be kept away from the entire election process.
The women had already elected on women reserve seats in the assemblies and local governments, she said, adding that now the environment has gone under a great changes and the females have not only acquired education but they also knew about their rights.
She predicated that with the passage of time more positive changes were expected in the environment, urging on the party female workers that they should hold corner meetings with the womenfolk, educating them about importance of the vote and their participation in the entire process.
She said once there were educated about their rights then no one could stop them, stressing on imparting quality knowledge to the youngsters, especially the girls who could play their constructive role on booting numerous sector, including the economy of the country.
District president of the ANP, Haji Rehmanullah told to the party workers that he has been working for the party for the last three decades and he never indulged in violating the party disciplines.”Many people have come and gone. However the party leadership have confidence in me and that was all due to tremendous contributions I have made to the party position in the district,” he said. “I still work as worker of the party and I would continue my contributions.”
Malgary Doctoran district president Dr Muhammad Jasim said that after the nomination of the district president Haji Rehmanullah as district president all the rumors about rift in the party were over. He said the party central and provincial leadership was present on the occasion of the election and they had monitored the whole course of the elections.
