Women’s issues take centre stage

ISLAMABAD: After its success in Karachi, the women’s exposition 2006 will be held in other provinces as well, said Senator Nilofer Bakhtiar, advisor to the Prime Minister on women’s development. Speaking on April 15 on a PTV Programme, She said that the women expo would develop a platform where the efforts of all concerned quarter working for women’s empowerment could be integrated, adding that it would help bridge the gap between the government, corporate and public sectors.

She said the expo was being organised by the 4th Dimension (Pvt) Ltd in Collaboration with the Ministry of Women’s Development, along with several other governmental organisations. Held in four halls of the Karachi Expo Centre, there were around 400 booths for exhibitors from the corporate sector,200 women artisans from rural areas and 100 women entrepreneurs from urban areas were participating and a ‘Hunarmand Aurat’ pavilion would be setup ,where women artisans from all the four provinces would display and put up their products for sale.
