Women ‘burnt’ by husbands die

RAWALPINDI: Two women from Gujar Khan allegedly burnt by their husbands died in hospitals on Monday after remaining there for few days.

In the first incident, the woman’s brother – Zahid Hussain – alleged that she was burnt deliberately by her husband who had strained relations with her and beat her up frequently.

He lodged a murder case against the husband with Jaltli police. He told the police that she was issueless and often maltreated by her husband.

Mr Hussain said he learnt through the villagers that his sister had received burn injuries on April 22 and was first taken to THQ hospital Gujar Khan and later shifted to Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi where she died.Quoting her sister, he told the police that she was burnt deliberately by her husband to get rid of her for ever. The police have registered a murder case against the husband and started investigations.

In the second incident, the mother of four children was allegedly burnt by her husband on Friday and succumbed to her injuries at Kharian hospital, police said. According to the police, her husband doused her with petrol and set her on fire at his house in Gujar Khan. According to the police, she was married 10 years ago but her relations with him got strained after some years.
