Woman seeks protection against Taliban commander
MINGORA: A desperate woman has appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the human rights organisations to provide her protection against a Swat Taliban commander, who was forcing her to marry him.
A divorced woman identified as Shazia Sultan, resident of Mian Bela in Swat at a press conference on Sunday said that a Taliban commander Gul Azeem, the brother of her former husband Denawat Khan, first forced her husband to divorce her.
She alleged that due to his threats she along with her husband Denawat Khan fled to Quetta but the militant followed them there and even fired at her on one occasion.
The woman said that after some time they returned to Peshawar where her husband divorced her after succumbing to threats by his brother. She said that she was leading a happy life and had three daughters Nadia, 8, Roshna, 7, and two-year-old Muskan.
