Woman labelled ‘Kari’ accepted by family

Karachi: A woman previously termed ‘Kari’ was accepted by her family after an NGO, ‘Gosha-e-Aafiat’, successfully arbitrated and removed misunderstandings.

Rasheeda Bibi belonging to the interior Sindh was declared “Kari” six months back over fake allegations.

She escaped from her home along with her three children and took shelter in the Gosha-e-Aafiat in Block Q, Nazimabad.

Gosha-e-Aafiat officials contacted with the family of Bibi and helped them realise the allegations against the innocent woman were fake.

Later, the husband visited the Gosha-e-Aafiat and took his wife and children to their home.

Incharge of Gosha-e-Aafiat Jehan Ara said that her centre had so far provided shelter to some 3,500 women during the last ten years. She said that they also provided vocational training to the women and girls that took shelter with them. She said that so far they had also arranged marriages of seven orphan girls. She said that the Gosha-e-Aafiat was being run with the help of philanthropists.
