Woman, infant killed
KHAIRPUR, July 20 2006: A woman and her 10-day-old baby were killed in a village near here for marrying without the consent of the family, and police are not registering a case. The News has learnt from reliable sources that Shakila had married Mashooq Sial without the consent of her father, Abdul Ghafoor. Her uncle Manzoor killed her and her child in village Ali Nawaz Sial in the limits of police station Mehboob Kelehoro. The accused is influential and that was the reason of non-registration of the case. When this correspondent contacted the police station concerned for confirming the report, the police said no one informed the police about it or complained to them.
Meanwhile, a woman and a man were killed on the pretext of Karo-Kari in a village near here. Reports reaching here from village Phullaie of the Ghudpur police station where accused Rahib Chacher shot dead his wife Marvi (20) and Nihal Chacher. He threw his slain wife’s body into the Indus River and police are trying to fish it out with the help of divers.
