Wage award awaits All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) nomination

LAHORE- Federal Labour Minister Omar Asghar hopes the APNS s would soon send its nominations to the seventh wage board for the newspaper employees. Talking to reporters after the devolution of power seminar he said that the government had been repeatedly asking the newspaper owners to nominate their representatives for the board to enable it to start its proceedings, but they had failed to do so.

The All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (APNEC) and Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) have already submitted the names of their representatives in February last. The labour ministry had invited the APNS, PFUJ and APNEC in December last to nominate their respective representatives to the government for constituting the seventh wage board. Their executive councils met at Karachi in February last and finalized the nominations.

The presidents and secretaries general of both the organisations in a statement have condemned the delaying tactics of the APNS. They urged the government to constitute the board as early as possible by appointing its chairman as they thought the board could start its work even without the APNS nominations.
