Veteran artiste Saleh Shah passes away

HYDERABAD: Great artist and broadcaster of Radio Pakistan Hyderabad and PTV, Syed Saleh Muhammad Shah expired late on Saturday night in Civil Hospital Hyderabad.

He was conducting his famous programme ëFateh Khan Ji Kutchehryí at Radio Pakistan Hyderabad at 7.00pm, when he felt pain in chest. He was rushed to the hospital, where he breathed his last.

Shah was 70 and left behind five sons and five daughters. He was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard Sakhi Shah Muhammad-Din in village Darya Beg Mughal near here on Sunday.

Shah had been conducting the Kutchehry programme since 1959, while he also conducted a programme ëOtaqí on the PTV for many years. He had also researched on Shah Latif Bhittaiís poetry and was a recipient of the Pride of Performance award.

Writers, poets, artists and officers of Radio Pakistan, while expressing their deep grief and shock, prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
