Urdu weekly staffer gunned down in City

KARACHI- Maulana Rizwan Meraj, an accounts clerk of a religious Urdu weekly, Zarb-i-Momin, was gunned down in Nazimabad No 4. It is reported that he was a resident of Block G, North Nazimabad. When he reached office, two armed men riding on motorcycle fired shots on his head and fled. He was seriously injured and fell unconscious. An ambulance of Al-Rashed Trust rushed the victim to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A Jaish Mohammad source said that he was not a party activist but he was working in the newspaper office. However, the police sources do not agree to such explanation.

The weekly was deemed a spokesman of Taliban and pro-Taliban groups including Jaish-e-Mohammad, a jihadi outfit and Sipah-i-Sahaba, a sectarian organisation so the seen in the perspective of sectarian related shooting and also in Jaish’s fight with an ethnic party.
