Two women killed for honour

RAWALPINDI: Two women were shot dead by their brothers in separate incidents in Rawalpindi and Chakwal on Tuesday, police said.

Naseem Akhtar, mother of three, had been residing with her brother in Saddar Bairooni area after her separation from her husband.

Naseem Akhtar’s younger brother Ghulam Mustafa came there and had an exchange of hot words with his sister over what the police said her alleged extra-marital relations. During the quarrel, he shot her dead and escaped.

In Chakwal, a woman was gunned down by her brother for honour, police said.

Mohammad Inayat of Rawal Bala village told Dhudial police on July 17 that her daughter had been kidnapped by Muddasir Husain of village Saang Kalan and Asmatullah of Mansehra. The police arrested both the accused but could not recover Samina Kausar.

On Monday, Samina returned to her home. However, on Tuesday morning, her brother Mohammad Amjad allegedly shot her in the head.

Investigation officer SI Mushtaq said Samina was not kidnapped rather had gone with Muddasir and Asmatullah on her own volition.
