Two women among 3 shot dead over ‘divorce’

ISLAMABAD – Contrary to the tall claims of Capital Police chief that Islamabad has been made a weapons-free zone, gunmen attacked a car in broad daylight and killed three people including two women.

The horrible incident took place here at a posh sector F-11/4, which is among a few sectors of the federal capital where a large number of police pickets have been established.

According to details, 45-year-old Najma Bibi was heading towards her flat with her daughter Sidra Bibi and a man, identified as Mohammad Nazir, in a car bearing registration number FF-149, when three men, riding in another car, intercepted them at Golra Mor and opened indiscriminate fire at them. As a result, all three including Najma Bibi, Sidra Bibi and Mohammad Nazir were injured severly. The passersby took them to Pakistan Institute of Medical Science however, the doctors pronounced them dead.

Following the incident, police launched a search operation in the area.

According to official sources, deceased Najma Bibi had a dispute with her husband and she was fighting a legal battle for divorce. Official sources believe that family dispute led to this cold-blooded murder, however police were investigating the case. When contacted, Rashid Niazi, Station House officer of Shalimar Police Station, confirmed the incident and said that investigations were under way.
