Two more suspects associated in Pearl case probe
KARACHI- Police have associated on Tuesday two more suspects in the alleged kidnapping of American journalist Daniel Pearl.
“Police team continued efforts to trace the members of network holding Daniel Pearl as hostage,” said the statement of Sindh Information Department issued here late night.
The lead suspect Omar Shaikh and three other suspects are already in police custody since the past two weeks.
The statement further said “the Sindh police is co-ordinating operations in Toba Tek Singh with the help and assistance of the Punjab Police to gather more information on suspect Amjad Farooqui to affect his arrest.”
“An investigation team of the Sindh Police is focussing on some more clues, two more individuals have been associated with the investigation. Meanwhile, interrogation of the suspects in police custody continues.”
The statement did not give any details about the persons associated with the investigation.
The Wall Street Journal reporter Pearl is missing since Jan 23. He was last seen near Hotel Metropole in Karachi.
