MULTAN: Two low intensity locally-assembled bombs went off near Nag Shah Chowk on Saturday night, sources in Bomb Disposal Squad confirmed. Although no injury or life loss was reported from the spot, the blasts spread panic in the city.

The Bomb disposal, Police and Rescue 1122 personnel as well as officials of other secret law enforcement agencies rushed to the spot and swept the area. Sources claimed that 500 gram explosive material was used in the first bomb that was hidden under construction material and one kilogram in the other that was planted on the other side of the road.

Both the bombs are stated to be remote controlled. Investigations were underway but police could not trace the plotter. Meanwhile, the police foiled a bid to target public gathering of former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani as it recovered and defused a bomb near the venue here on Sunday.
