Two art exhibitions in city

LAHORE: Two art exhibitions opened in the city on Wednesday: one, at The Collectors Galleria, Alhamra Cultural Complex, and the other at The Drawing Room.

The Collectors Galleria exhibits artworks of Salman Farooqi, a Karachi-based artist, while The Drawing Room displays the works of a group of artists.

At The Collectors Galleria, the guest of honour was Lahore US Consul General Carmella Conroy. Twenty-three artworks of Salman Farooqi are on display. The artist, who is a diploma holder from Karachi School of Arts, has five solo and about a dozen group shows to his credit both in the country and abroad. The medium of his paintings is acrylic on canvas.

In the words of art critic Khalid Mahmud “the artist`s labour consists of a few particular motifs which are continuously represented in a low relief. This produces quite an impressive effect both from the aesthetic point of view as well as in a narrative sense. The transformation of his imagination can be perceived in the visual forms of cubical patterns”.

Ms Conroy called the work impressive, saying that she was delighted to attend the exhibition. The exhibition will continue till Dec 6.

At Drawing Room, 16 artists are exhibiting their works who are Irfan Hasan, Waseem Ahmed, Adeel uz Zafar, Imran Channa, Unver Shafi Khan, Ayesha Durrani, Rehana Mangi, Imran Mudassar, Akbar Ali, Huma Iftikhar, Mudassar Manzoor, Aakif Suri, Jamil Baloch, Nazakat Ali Depar, Madiha Sikander and RM Naeem.
