Two arrested for manhandling journalists
THATTA- Police arrested two persons against whom late journalist Nawaz Ali had an FIR lodged. The two persons Rauf Sarnoon and Khamiso Samoon manhandled local journalist Nawaz Ali when he tried to stop them from beating a driver. Nawaz reported the matter to the police but no action was taken against the accused. Later Nawaz went to Islamabad to report the matter to higher officials.
Islamabad police picked up Nawaz on suspicion and allegedly subjected him to severe torture. Nawaz was later released in a critical condition and brought to Thatta where he succumbed to his injuries. Sources said that Rauf and Khamiso were very influential persons and that’s why the police avoided taking action against them.
