TUJ condemns torture on tribal journalist

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Tribal Union of Journalists, South Waziristan Agency Unit, Saturday strongly condemned torturing of a tribal journalist allegedly by personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) in Wana, South Waziristan Agency.To condemn the act on the part of the personnel of the FC, a meeting of TUJ, South Waziristan Agency unit was held with Mohammad Roshan in the chair. Besides others tribal journalists-Noor Alam Mehsud, Mohammad Khalil Mehsud, Mohammad Rauf, Mohammad Irshad, Mohammad Zaman, Wajidullah Barki and Noor Mohammad Barki.They in the meeting discussed the torturing of their college, Roshan Wazir, by FC personnel at Wana.

Speaking on the occasion, TUJ, South Waziristan said that journalists in tribal areas in general and South Waziristan in particular have been fulfilling their journalistic responsibilities in too much difficult time.But unfortunately, personnel of the FC have been torturing their time and again. The participants of the meeting condemned the incident in strong words and asked FC high ups to take action against the FC personnel allegedly involved in torturing the tribal journalist. They said that torturing of the journalists should be stopped immediately, otherwise they would announce boycott of attending government functions in FATA.
