Tributes paid to Lashari

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Sassui Paleejo said department of Culture has published 18 books in a year as compared to 16 books published in last five years.

Speaking at a program organized by her department in memory of journalist and columnist Faqeer Mohammad Lashari, Minister said as compared to 350 of last year, department provided financial support to 450 artists, men of letters, researchers, poets, writers, story writers and folk artists, and also gave medical treatment to the poor and deserving persons at government expense.

Paying tribute to the late journalist, she said Lashari was a bold and brave writer, who always revealed truth from his pen.

Provincial Minister announced to compile and publish all scripts of Faqeer Mohammad Lashari in form of a book, whereas library to be built at Gaji Khuhawar, Larkana would also be named after him.

Former MPA Ghulam Qadir Paleejo, Sarang Lashari son of Faqeer Mohammad Lashari, journalist Nazir Leghari, Nusrat Lashari elder daughter of Faqeer Mohammad Lashari, Secretary Culture and Tourism Shams Jaffarani, famous poet Shamsheer Haidri, DG Monas Ayaz Shiekh, Director Mohammad Ali Manjhi, Dr Qasim Bughio and Dr Akash Ansari also addressed the occasion.
