Torture on eight-year-old girl in Gakhar Mandi Stepmother turns out to be tormentor

GUJRANWALA: The police have claimed that eight-year-old Sobia was beaten and thrown along the GT Road by her stepmother.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, SSP Operations Kamran Yousaf said that they had arrested the victim’s stepmother Nasira Parveen and father Lashkar Ali. He disclosed that Sobia’s mother had died eight years ago and her father Lashkar Ali contracted the second marriage with Nasira.

He added that Nasira used to thrash the girl and had beaten her mercilessly on the day of the incident as well. However, Nasira Parveen denied the charges against her. She said that she had only slapped the girl twice.

She said that she had neither thrashed her mercilessly nor thrown her along the road. She disclosed that she worked as a maid, not her stepdaughter. She said that actually she was being made a capegoat.

Meanwhile, the DCO, the additional sessions judge and RPO visited the hospital and inquired after her. The judge directed the doctors and the Child Protection Bureau to take care of the child. He directed the investigation officer to complete the challan in 14 days and submit him a report daily.
