TI Pakistan files suit against media group
Transparency International Pakistan has filed a suit against a media group – operating a television channel and an Urdu newspaper – for one billion rupees for defamation of the organisation and its Advisor Syed Adil Gilani. According to the suit Transparency is an international organisation. Allegations of “kickback” were levelled in a programme aired as well as an article written by the same journalist.
Since Transparency International Pakistan is struggling for establishment of Rule of Law in Pakistan and striving to eradicate corruption such defamation it is alleged is an attempt to destroy its integrity and image.
