The News staffer grieved

LAHORE: Allahyar Khan, the father of the News Editor of The News, Lahore, Siddiq Asghar Khan, died in Jhang after a protracted illness on Wednesday. He was 88. He was the former principal of the Central Model High School, Mianwali and Comprehensive High School, Jhang. He joined the education service after the Partition. He took commission in the Indian Army in 1940. Subsequently, he joined the Indian National Army of Subhash Chandra Bose. He was Adjutant of the Field Force Regiment, which was a part of the Subhash Brigade. After the World War, he was one of those who were court-martialed by the British for joining the Indian National Army. He was ripped of his rank and emoluments and imprisoned.
