Swat: I wonder why we have a meteorological department when the weather forecasts that we get are almost always wrong. Earlier this year after an earthquake, the met department’s chairman assured us that there would be no more earthquakes in Pakistan for the next 50 years. Within a week we had another one.

Similarly, the met department forecasted heavy monsoon rains this year. The whole month of July has passed and there are no signs of monsoon rains. This department is nothing but a waste of public money. We get far more accurate forecasts from foreign sources.
