Team of German Press to visit Pakistan soon
BERLIN: President of German Press and Journalists Federation, Deutscher Presse Verband (DPV), Dr Christian Zarm called on the Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany Shahid A Kamal here on Tuesday.
The Ambassador apprised him of the latest situation with regard to ongoing operation “Rah-e-Nijat” against terrorists in South Waziristan and about the various steps that have been taken by the government to strengthen the democratic institutions and for the welfare of the general public.
Dr Zarm explained the activities of the Federation and informed that it is non-union journalist association having 8000 members, who are working in all fields of journalism in Germany. He said that the Federation intends to send a delegation of journalists to Pakistan so that they could have first hand knowledge of situation in Pakistan. He informed the Ambassador that the Federation also intends to sponsor a school in any backward locality in Pakistan and a formal proposal in this regard would shortly be sent to the Embassy.
Zarm appreciated the efforts of the Government of Pakistan being made to uproot the terrorism as well as the courage and bravery being shown by the personnel of security forces and people of Pakistan against the cowardly acts of terrorism.
Shahid A Kamal assured that the Pakistan Mission in Berlin would extend full co-operation to the Federation in its noble cause as well as facilitate the delegation of journalists in making its visit to Pakistan a great success. Shamsul Haq, Head of Central and South Asia for the Federation was also present on this occasion.
