Taj Haider relinquishes media coordination

Karachi: Provincial General Secretary PPP and Sindh government’s media coordinator Taj Haider said that he has relinquished media coordination as the incumbent Information Minister Sharjeel Memon would be dealing the same.

He, however, said that he would continue to work as coordinator of the provincial government for dealing with a host of issues ranging from census and flood rehabilitation to development.

Talking to The News on Friday, Taj Haider said that he has assumed the charge of media coordination during interregnum when Adviser on Information Sharmila Farooqui was removed.

Haider said that his major achievement as media coordinator was publishing a special magazine on the life and politics of Z.A. Bhutto on his 32nd death anniversary on April 4. He said that the magazine’s historic significance was that it contained last article of prominent intellectual Dr. N.A. Baloch who died on April 5. Other contributors included Prof. Ghafoor Ahmed, Farhad Zaidi and Mairaj Mohammed Khan.

Meanwhile, Information Minister Sharjeel Memon held an introductory meeting with senior officials of the Information Department. He underlined the need for activating print media monitoring system and ensuring timely action on news items pertaining to social and human rights issues and complaints against police.
