Supreme Court lauds efforts for tracing out son of journalist

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Tuesday lauded the efforts of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kaleem Imam and Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Islamabad Bani Ameen in tracing out the son of a local journalist, who had gone missing for the last so many months.

The court observed that this is called true professionalism and appreciated the role of kaleem Imam for amicably resolving a complicated matter in a proficient manner. DIG (Operations) Bani Ameen presented the report into the matter before apex court on Tuesday and Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry lauded the efforts of DIG Bani Ameen who traced Hassan Sharjeel Turabi S/o Shakeel Turabi following the directions of Supreme Court.

Shakeel Turabi had registered a report with Aabpara police station Islamabad on January 2009, claiming that his son Hassan Sharjeel Turabi is being kept in habeas corpus. Case number 39/2009 under section 365 PPC was registered and Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo motu notice into this matter.

The Supreme Court directed DIG (Operations) Bani Ameen during hearing of this case to trace the son of Shakeel Turabi. DIG (Operations) Bani Ameen Islamabad after finding the son of Shakeel Turabi at Afghan border arranged his meeting with his mother and Uncle. Hassan Sharjeel Turabi and his mother also lived together for three days. On successfully resolving this case, it was also directed to make Bani Ameen service as a part of record and incorporate this brilliant performance also in his service file.
