Stray twine slits throat of minor girl

LAHORE, May 15 2006: A 10 year old girl Aqsa who was sitting on the fuel tank of a motorcycle, died in the arms of her parents when a stray twine almost slit her throat near Rehman Pura here on Sunday, police sources said. The untoward incident took place when Sardar Ahmad, the ill-fated father of the minor girl, was returning to his Mohammad Nagar residence along with his wife and daughter on his motorcycle after meeting his relatives in Kahna area.

Police said Aqsa, a student of 4th class, was sitting on the fuel tank of the bike while her mother was on the pillion behind Ahmad. When they reached near Rehman Pura in the jurisdiction of Ichra police, suddenly, a stray twine fell on them, police further said. The razor-like twine gave no chance to the aggrieved father to rescue his daughter because it almost beheaded her throat as a result of which the head of the minor girl fell in his arms. Though Ahmad applied full brakes but lost control of his bike which later bumped into a footpath. He and his wife also sustained multiple injuries.

A large number of locals gathered soon after the incident when father of the deceased raised hue and cry over the brutal killing of her innocent daughter. Sardar Ahmad, a building contractor by profession, with the help of other locals immediately rushed the girl to the Services Hospital where doctors confirmed her death. Ahmad told reporters at hospital that he did not want to take legal action against anyone involved in the murder of his daughter because city police could not arrest the alleged killers of the other affectees.
