Some journalists take money for writing false stories: Chief Executive

ISLAMABAD- Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf said that some Pakistani journalist’s had been taking money to write certain stories. He advised them to investigate their facts.

He was speaking at a large community dinner, which was attended by Pakistani-Americans from all over the United States of America.

He had asked a Pakistani journalist to “check your facts”, a reference to a story about how much PTV had paid for the telecast of Gen. Musharraf’s speech at the Millennium Summit. The figure quoted by the correspondent was described as “baseless” by an official press release from the Ministry of Information and Media Development which had said that the expense incurred was only $4,500.

The Chief Executive was said to have taken a dim view of the dispatch published in an English daily.
