PESHAWAR: The banned outfit Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has created its own website for the purpose of streaming videos and publishing articles, interviews, statements etc.

According to media reports, a statement released by the information and publication wing of the TTP said that ‘Umar Media’ has sponsored the website. In August 2008, the TTP was declared a banned outfit in Pakistan.

“Statements, videos, announcements and magazine released by the TTP will be available on the website,” the statement added. On the other hand, the website by the TTP has been opposed by Pakistani social media activists.

They have criticised the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for allowing a banned outfit to openly launch a website while YouTube and Xbox remain inaccessible in Pakistan. The activists said that TTP website contains propaganda and violent material especially against the armed forces.
