Sindh High Court extends Malik Riaz’s protective bail

KARACHI: Sindh High Court on Wednesday extended pre-arrest protective bail to Bahria Town owner Malik Riaz Hussain for further fifteen days in 1,401 Kanal land case.The applicant’s counsel, Shaukat Hayat, filed an application before the court seeking extension of protective pre-arrest bail to his client for further eight weeks due to illness of the applicant.
He submitted that applicant was to proceed to Rawalpindi from Karachi to appear before the trial court but all of a sudden he suffered cardiac problem with severe back pain on August 12 and he got treatment from Aga Khan University hospital.
He submitted that doctors after examining the applicant admitted him in the hospital and also attached a medical certificate. He said that soon as recommendations of the doctors, applicant is able to travel he would surrender before the trial court and prayed court to extend the protective bail for further eight weeks.
SHC’s single bench headed by Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi after perusal of the medical certificate observed that since the applicant is hospitalized he could not attend the trial court. The court observed that in view of submissions made by the counsel of the applicant the protective pre-arrest bail is extended for further 15 days up to August 30 with same terms and conditions on which protective bail was granted to the applicant.
