Sindh government forms new police divisions

Karachi: The provincial government, late on Friday night, reorganised the Sindh Police Department and turned it into 20 divisions, with a Superintendent of Police (Grade-19 officer) taking charge of each one. The change in the structure of the police department was made in light of the recently promulgated Sindh People’s Local Government Ordinance 2012 (SPLGO-2012).

According to the bifurcation, the department was divided between SSP South-SP Clifton, SP Saddar, SP City and SP Lyari. The other police divisions were SSP East, SP Gulshan, SP Jamshed, SP Korangi, SP Sharea Faisal and SP Landhi.

In addition, SSP West, SP Orangi, SP SITE, SP Keamari and SP Baldia, SSP Central, SP Gulberg, SP Liaquatabad, SP North Nazimabad and SP New Karachi SSP Malir, SP Gadap, SP Malir and SP Bin Qasim were also formed.
