Significant potential in Pakistan for Information Technology
KARACHI- There is a significant potential in Pakistan in the realms of information technology. “There is a room for expansion in Pakistan with a market of 140 million people” remarked Tan Choon Seng, Managing Director (Asia Pacific Region) of Compaq Computer Asia Limited. He said that his organization would also contemplate much more alliance and partnership this very region.
Tan Choon Seng was also appreciative of the pro-investment policies of the government of Pakistan. He said that his organization is studying plans regarding expanding its business in Pakistan. However, he added, this would depend on the extent of volume to justify such a move. Tan Choon Seng spoke of his organization’s vision of human achievement by transforming the information technology and the Internet access.
Tan Choon Seng also explained in details the performance and achievements of Compaq over the years and said that it has excelled in the PCs, home PCs and commercial PCs.
About the outlook for the year’s 2001, he said that it would be difficult to predict but was optimistic that his organization would do well during the period.
He also acknowledge the growing awareness about the information technology in Pakistan.
Tan Choon Seng said that he also met with the Sindh Governor and the provincial finance minister and praised their vision.
