Shutdown of Jang, Geo unacceptable: Senator Ghani
KARACHI: Member of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Senator Saeed Ghani has said the shutdown of Jang and Geo was not acceptable in any case, and this was the clear stance of his party as well.

He said that the matter was discussed earlier in the Upper House of the Parliament.Talking to The News, Ghani said that opposition of the media was not a new thing but closing down of a newspaper or TV channel would turn the national institutions into a laughing stock and a new debate would emerge which was not in national interest.
He opined that it would be better to dispose of the issue of Jang, Geo at the earliest. He was of the view that disagreement with the media in the reign of the Pakistan People’s Party was handled in a parliamentary way.
Member of the Senate body said attack on Hamid Mir naturally gave way to insecurity and fear among the journalist community. He remarked that the solution of even the biggest of issues came up in a legal way. He stated that extreme measures were injurious to the country.
