SHO suspended for misbehaving with French woman tourist

THATTA: The district police officer, Thatta, on Saturday suspended SHO Makli Syed Sikandar Shah for misbehaving with a French woman tourist, who approached the police to register a case of mugging.

French tourist Florence was in Thatta for research work on Sufism and Makli monuments for the past few days.

On Tuesday, when she was busy in working at a tomb, two men snatched her bag and fled.

Florence said her passport, mobile phone set, research papers, cash and other personal belongings were in the bag.

Meanwhile, a meeting of several social welfare organizations on Saturday strongly condemned the incident. It said the law and order situation was deteriorating in the district while the police were not doing anything to improve the situation.

APP adds: Activists of the PPP took out a rally here on Saturday against the police torture of the French woman tourist. The protesters, led by PPP leader Imtiaz Qureshi, marched on different roads of the city and reached the press club, where they chanted slogans.
