SHC asks ECP to hold ‘official result of PS-30
SUKKUR: The Sindh High Court Bench Sukkur on Tuesday granting status quo on the results of PS-30 Khairpur-II Kingri, has asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) not to issue the notification of the official result of this constituency till March 4.
The division bench of the Sindh high court Sukkur comprising Justice Dr Rana Mohammad Shamim and Justice Syed Pir Ali Shah issued these orders on Tuesday, on a constitutional petition filed by Syed Bachal Shah through his lawyer Ghulam Shabbir Shar. The applicant in his petition stated that on February 17, the entire polling staff and policemen of the constituency were changed, while two to three persons were killed in violence on the Election Day.
He said that at polling station No. 15 number of registered voters was 1602, while 1,628 votes were polled and produced the result sheet as proof. On this, the court ordered the elections commission of Pakistan not to issue the notification of the official result for this seat and issued notices to Syed Bachal Shah of PPPP, Pir Syed Sadaruddin Shah Rashdi of PMLF, district returning officer and returning officer Khairpur, election commission of Pakistan, additional advocate general and deputy attorney general of the Sindh High Court Sukkur to appear before the court on March 4, to give their comments.
