SH Hashmi Media Welfare Trust First project takeoff HMI gets affiliated with KU

Karachi: The Office of the Affiliation Committee issued a notification for the affiliation of Hashmi Media Institute (HMI) for the introduction of M. A. Mass Communication program (under semester system) upon approval of the recommendations of the Affiliation Committee by the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Academic Council / Syndicate, University of Karachi. The Institute will offer specializations in Print Media, Advertising & Public Relations, Management & Organizational Communication, and Electronic Media: Radio /Television Program Production & News Reporting.

The application deadline for admission to the MA Mass Communication program at Hashmi Media Institute is Wednesday, February 29, 2012. The program shall commence on Monday, March 12, 2012. The students will be issued M. A. degrees by University of Karachi upon successful completion of the two year M. A. program at Hashmi Media Institute.Hashmi Media Institute aims at national development of Pakistan by providing high quality media education and training to scholars, amateurs and professionals in media. It is a subsidiary of Hashmi Media Welfare Trust (HMWT) that has frequently sponsored media education and given scholarships to students enrolled in degree programs at various universities across Pakistan over the past two decades. The HMI is registered with the Sindh Literacy Department, Government of Sindh and affiliated with University of Karachi vide letter no. SAC/HMI/02/2012 dated February 09,2012,Taking forward the vision of the advertising legend (Late) S. H. Hashmi, the son and the Chief Executive of Orient Advertising (Private) Limited, Syed Mahmood Hashmi has made this memorable and appreciable effort to provide quality education for media professionals.

The Hashmi Media Institute plans to offer short and long duration higher degree, diploma, and certificate programs to enhance the quality of media education in Pakistan in collaboration with a well-reputed British Institution, under an MOU signed in 2011. The MOU covers a broad agreement to work together on specific projects to help develop HMl’s own specializations in Journalism (Print and Online), TV Journalism, TV Documentary, Radio, Scriptwriting (TV, Film, Radio), and Filmrnaking. The short, technically and technologically grounded, professional, hands-on training courses shall increase the performance of amateurs and working professionals in media. The Institute will also provide opportunities to its faculty for free / cost effective enrollments in its foreign programs in future.
