Senior citizens and Computerized national identity cards

AS regards the issuance of computerised national identity cards (CNIC) to senior citizens, the government had claimed it would issue lifelong CNICs to all senior citizens It was under this impression that I applied for the renewal of my expired CNIC, hoping that the new one will be valid for life.
However, being over 70 years, I was shocked to see the new card which was valid for seven years only. On inquiry I was told that the policy of issuing CNICs for life to senior citizens has been abandoned, unannounced.
While other countries give their senior citizens many privileges to ease the burden of old age, in our country senior citizens are made to suffer.
