Senate chairman suggests names for commission on new provinces

ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Nayyar Hussain Bukhari has nominated six senators to form a commission for establishment of new provinces in Punjab.

According to details, two names from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and one name each from Awami National Party (ANP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) have been sent to the National Assembly Secretariat. The nominees are: Senator Farhatullah Babar, Senator Sughra Imam, Senator Haji Adeel, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Senator Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and Senator Rafiq.

The Punjab Assembly and National Assembly had approved resolutions with ample majority for the establishment of two new provinces in Punjab, therefore, President Asif Ali Zardari directed the National Assembly speaker to constitute a commission of six parliamentarians for the proposed provinces.
