School threatening to expel gang-rape victim: parents

KHAIRPUR: Parents of a schoolgirl who was subjected to gang-rape by her male teachers more than a month ago said on Friday that in addition to threats from relatives of the accused they had received threat from the school administration that they would expel her.

Father of the victim Faiz Mohammad Khand and his family members told a delegation of the Karo-Kari Sindh chapter led by its director Sobia Agha that they were constantly receiving threats from relatives of the accused to withdraw the case.

And now, the administration of high school in Bhango Behan had joined them by refusing to fill her examination form for matriculation, they said. The school had threatened that she would be expelled, they said.

The delegation met the victim and her parents in Kamal Khan Khand village of Faiz Ganj taluka and gathered details about the incident from the girl and her parents, separately.

Faiz Mohammad and his daughter told the delegation that since the gang-rape incident, they had been living under constant fear. The relatives of the accused had issued threats last night that if they appeared in sessions court on Saturday to attend hearing of the case they would have to bear the consequences, they said.

They said that girls of their village and adjoining areas had stopped going to school after the incident and demanded that the government should appoint female teachers in girls’ middle school in Bhango Behan where girls could continue their education and appear in exams for matriculation.

The rape victim and her parents criticised the district administration of Khairpur for not extending them any help after the incident. They demanded police security to appear in court.

The delegation assured that they would take steps to have the girls’ middle school upgraded so that the village girls could continue their education.

According to the victim’s statements, she was student of matriculation at the Bhango Behan High School where three teachers Shaukat Jatt, Imtiaz Rajpar and Ghulam Mustafa Rajpar subjected her to gang-rape more than a month ago.
