SC takes notice of stage collapse incident
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday took notice of an incident in which two persons were killed and dozens injured when the stage collapsed during the recording of a private TV channel’s programme.
The affected people staged a protest outside the National Press Club complaining that instead of providing medical aid to the injured, most of the management staff escaped from the site and turned off the lights hindering rescue activities.
Taking notice of the matter, the Chief Justice called a report from the chief commissioner and the IGP Islamabad within 48 hours.
The affected people expressed their determination to pursue the case. They said the ARY management showed no interest in the treatment of injured persons due to which a woman lost her life.
They held the ARY Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Salman Iqbal responsible for the incident and urged registration of a case against him.
