Sailors urged to learn modern trends in IT

KARACHI: “Every sailor of the Pakistan Navy (PN) has to keep himself abreast of the latest trends in information technology and software developments to meet the modern day challenges.”

This was stated by Rear Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir, Commander Pakistan Fleet, while addressing the passing out parade of New Entry sailors held at PNS Himalaya this morning. He said, “Naval service is essentially a technical and practical job which involves usage of Hi-tech machinery and modern electronic equipment, the operation of which requires thorough professionals and rigorous job training.” Tahir said that the nation had entrusted them with the sacred responsibility of defending the sea frontiers of the motherland. He expressed his confidence that they would measure up to the expectations of the nation and would always keep national interest above self-interest.

He said that despite monetary constraints, the government was investing a substantial amount on the training of sailors and they, therefore, should be ready to pay back with all the devotion whenever called by the nation.
