Rule nisi issued for recovering minor girl

KARACHI, July 14 2006: The Sindh High Court issued on Thursday rule nisi for the recovery of a minor girl Shabbiran, who her mother alleged had been detained by former PPP MNA Saradar Wahid Biikhsh Bhayo for more than three months. The rule nisi was issued by the bench – comprising Justice Anwer Zaheer Jamali and Justice Mohammad Afzal Soomro – during the hearing of a petition filed by Mrs. Hameed Faiz Mohammad, her mother. Mrs. Hameed alleged in the petition that she was employed by Sardar as a maid while her two brothers Nazar Mohammad, Mohammad Iqbal were also employed by him. She alleged that about three months back her brothers left his employment and he accused them of acquiring hundreds of thousands of rupees from him (Sardar) in a loan and unless they paid the loan he would keep Hameeda’s daughter as security with him.

The petition was originally filed before the SHC circuit bench at Larkana but was later transferred to a principal bench in Karachi. At the last hearing, the court had directed District Police Officer Shikarpur to recover the girl and reunite her with her parents. Sardar Wahid Bukhsh, who on the last hearing had denied that he had detained the girl, had also assured the court that he would render help in every possible way to help with her recovery. The DPO Shaikarpur filed on Thursday a statement detailing his efforts for the recovery of the girl and complained that despite his assurance before the court Sardar didn’t help at all.

Sardar Wahid Bux Bhayo who was present in person requested for an adjournment, submitting that his counsel, who is in Larkana, was not available today. The bench issued the rule nisi and directed the DPO to depute some honest and responsible police officer to execute the rule nisi by August 1.
