RTIC commissioner retires after completing tenure

PESHAWAR: Prof Kalim Ullah, Commissioner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information Commissioner (RTIC), retired on Friday after the completion of three years tenure.

He was the first information commissioner selected from the civil society to ensure availability of the government information to citizens through the RTI law. He retired after completing his tenure as laid down in the RTI Act 2013.

A farewell ceremony was arranged for him here at the RTI Commission Secretariat. Chief Information Commissioner, Azmat Hanif Orakzai, RTIC, information commissioner, MaheTallat and former Information Commissioner Abdul Mateen Khan were present on the occasion.

The chief information commissioner hailed the services of the outgoing information commissioner. He said the outgoing commissioner did his best in the implementation of the RTI law in public offices and made tremendous efforts in creating awareness among masses regarding this sunshine law.

Prof Kalimullah also spoke on the occasion and said that RTI law had empowered common people to know about the government affairs relating to them. Chief Information Commissioner Azmat Hanif Orakzai awarded shield to the outgoing commissioner.
