Role of working women highlighted
MANDI BAHAUDDIN: A ceremony to celebrate Working women Day was held at Government College for Women Phalia here the other day. Teaching staff and working women from various organisations and schools participated in the ceremony. Speaking at the function, DCO Tariq Chaudhry said that aim of observing the day was to honour working women and reminds the society of their huge contribution for the nation building. He said that working women had great potential to bring a positive change in socio economic conditions of the country.
Women’s participation in agriculture sector cannot be ignored as their contribution helps to increase agricultural production and in this way serve to reduce poverty, he pointed out.
He said Punjab government was working on different schemes for empowering women and creating conducive working environment for them.
