Rivers Indus, Chenab, Kabul in low flood

The River Indus is in low flood level at Tarbela, Kalabagh and Chashma while rivers Chenab and Kabul are also in low at Marala and Nowshera respectively, Flood Forecasting Centre (FFC) said here on Friday. In its daily flood forecast of gauging stations, FCC said that water inflow in river Indus at Tarbela is 2,61,900 cusecs, at Kalabagh 2,26,600 cusecs and at Chashma 2,46,400 cusecs.

Water flow in river Chenab at Marala is 95,700 cusecs and in river Kabul at Nowshera 46,100 cusecs. Flows in tributaries of River Kabul and Nullahs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may rise up to medium flood level during next 48 hours, it added.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR TODAY Met office said here on Friday that monsoon currents are penetrating in most parts of the country. A shallow westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist for next 2 days.

It said widespread thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls along with gusty winds is expected over North and Northeast Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (including Upper catchment of River Kabul), Kashmir (Upper catchments of River Ravi, Chenab & Jhelum) and hill torrents of DG Khan Division.

FURTHER OUTLOOK scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls along with gusty winds is expected over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Isolated thunderstorm/Rain is also expected over Northeast Balochistan during next 48 hours.

WEATHER PAST 24 HOURS Weather remained hot and humid in most parts of the country however isolated rain/thundershower occurred in Rawalpindi, Malakand, Hazara divisions and Kashmir’. Met office recorded scattered rainfall as follows:
