Rich tributes paid to Faiz
Karachi: Rich tributes were paid to eminent poet and humanist Faiz Ahmed Faiz at a seminar held here on Tuesday under the auspices of the Department of Mass Communication, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST).
Vice Chancellor of FUUAST, Professor Dr Muhammad Qaiser, Dr Muhammad Ali Siddiqui, Muniza Hashmi, Asghar Nadeem Syed, Mahmood Sham, Dr Qamar Zaman Yousufzai, Fazil Jamili, Dr Sulaiman D. Muhammad, Professor Dr Seemi Naghmana Tahir, Seema Naz and Shahbaz Butt expressed their views on the occasion.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Qaiser said that Faiz was a great poet who discussed the problems of the common man. He said that there is a need to foster the thinking and philosophy of Faiz.
Ms Muniza Hashmi said that Faiz was a revolutionary poet and a very loving and caring father. Dr Muhammad Ali Siddiqui pointed out that Faiz was equally popular abroad.
Senior journalist Mahmood Sham said that the letters of Faiz also gained popularity.
On the occasion, Fazal Jamili presented a poetic tribute to Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
