Reporter beaten up in Karachi Electric Supply Corporation chief’s office

KARACHI- Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) has strongly protested the manhandling and beating of Aziz Sanghur, the Staff Reporter of daily ‘The Nation’ for publishing a story about the protest of SITE Town against unannounced load shedding by the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation, and Karachi Water Sewerage Board.

In a joint statement here on Thursday, the President of KUJ Qamarullah Chaudhry, Vice President Jawed Rafiq, and General Secretary Rana M. Khalid condemned the negative and unscrupulous attitude of KESC officials and urged the authorities to take appropriate action against the culprits who abused and humiliated the reporter.

They said that if the KESC officials had grievances about the news item and were not satisfied over the publishing of clarification issued by KESC, they should have taken up the issue with the Editor of the newspaper, instead of taking law into their hands and beating up the reporter.
