Regularisation of PTV employees demanded

ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: The managing committee of All PTV Employees and Workers Union on Monday called for regularization of services of daily wages and contract employees of the PTV including resource persons.

The managing committee of the union which met here with Mohammad Rashid, senior vice president of the union urged president general Pervez Musharraf and prime minister Shaukat Aziz to immediately regularize the services of daily wages and contract employees of the corporation.

Pervaiz Akhtar Bhatti, Secretary General of the Union said the present government had regularized the services of contractual employees of various departments but the services of the PTV employees had not been considered for regularization for last 12 years.

He stressed that the PTV was in dire need of permanent staff as the senior employees were retiring from their service on reaching the age of superannuation.

He said the PTV was playing a major role in promoting the national culture, heritage and ideology. He said it was also highlighting the policies and programmes of the government and its experienced staff must be given a sense of security of job to work with peace of mind in the interest of the organization. He pointed out that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz while addressing the PTV employees at PTV centre had announced that the government will provide plots to PTV employees in some sector in Islamabad, and requested that this decision be implemented.

The president of the union Jehangir Khan addressed the meeting on telephone and supported the demand for regularization of the temporary staff of PTV.

The meeting besides others was also addressed by Malik Muhammad Feroze, Liaquat Ali Tarar, Muhammad Rashid, Muzaffar Qadir, Khalid Khan.The Managing committee of the union will meet in September again.
